When Jubilee is not whipping dance floors into a frenzy with her rambunctious combination of bass-heavy electro, UK funky, and tropical saffron, She steadily helps direct thangs over at the Nightshifters label as Publicity Director.

Among her numerous releases, her ‘PAYPUR’ EP (Beatport), co produced with Udachi, was released through the label. She also provided vocals on the ‘SMOKE RINGS’ track that jumped to the top of the charts with the music video viewed over 10,000 times on YouTube and Vimeo – all within the first week! She released a Miami Bass mix with Philly’s Own Emynd entitled, ‘Shake Whut You Got’, and has released several other mixes.

With podcasts for XLR8R under her belt, a DJ set for New Yorker Festival for their ‘Spotlight on Brooklyn’ segment, Jubilee has spread her sparks across the globe in far away lands such as Bucharest, Berlin, London and Reykvavik. Jubilee also holds down a monthly residence at the infamous ‘Flashing Lights‘ party in NYC, with fellow residents DJ Ayres (The Rub) and Nick Catchdubs (Fools Gold Records).

ZZK is bringing a global dance sensibility to digital cumbia, dubstep and electro-reggaeton cuts. Hypnotic beats with influences from Colombian cumbia, cumbia villera (cumbia from the slums of Buenos Aires), reggaeton, dubstep, IDM, and minimal techno, inspiration from afro-dance, murgas (marching bands), minimal dub and down tempo. Computer bleeps share sonic space with folkloric chant. Candombe drums are accompanied by the sample of a machete splicing the air and a vocal line of indigenous bebop is layered over hints of dub.

DJ sets are powerful showcases of ZZK music: past, present and future. B-Sides, mashups, bootlegs, official and unofficial releases plus the newest music from the ZZK label is tested on audiences during their fiery, eclectic and intensely fun DJ sets.

And of course local party crew, Peligrosa, will be there in full regale to bestow an insurmountable array of Latin heaters.

I’m listening to a track from this release entitled iHop right now and it makes me feel like i’m driving down the highway at 30mph smoking a blunt throwing mad pancakes at everyone that doesn’t look happy, and when they look at me, i’m like ‘I feel good, what’s your problem’. Matt Shadetek (Dutty Artz / NYC Tropical) has released an amazing instrumental album, this guy here. Works in the club, at a bbq, early Saturday morning jogs to your favorite coffee shop. One hears a wide array of styles with Flowers (Grime, Dubstep, House, UK Funky, Disco, Dembow) and you begin to wonder, is the synth gonna jump out and cut my face? If you don’t buy this then yes, yes the synth will cut your face and the bass will cold jack you!

I’ve been searching for these for a while and was finally able to come across some good samples for your projects! The cuíca, who’s sound is similar to the cry of the small jungle mammal for which it is named, is basically a single-headed drum with a small bamboo stick connected to the head. The cuíca originated in Africa, where it was used to hunt lions. The sound is similar to that of the female lion, so male lions would be attracted to it.

To play the instrument, use a damp piece of cloth folded (you can use water or kerosene) and placed between the thumb and index finger, rub the bamboo stick with the cloth somewhat gently. The sound produced is a high-pitched squeaky timbre.
