Manolo Black

Manolo Black (aka Trey Lopez) has been providing sounds for the Austin
nightlife for a number of years. Having access to a record store in his small
South Texas hometown fueled a fire early in his life that continues burn
ever so bright. He has played alongside an eclectic mix of acts, including
Broken Social Scene, RJD2, Diplo, Tortoise, Bajo Fondo, Broadcast,
Ozomatli, Chico Mann, Toy Selectah, Rich Medina, Quantic and a slew
of others. On stage in a live setting, he has collaborated with a number of
dj’s, musicians and artists including the Nuyorican Poets, DJ MEL, Adrian
Quesada (Grupo Fantasma, Brownout), DJ SUN, John Speice (Grupo
Fantasma, Brownout), DJ DOLORES (Brazil), drummer Earl Harvin, and
keysman Dave Palmer.

Musical collaborations and experiences in Brazil and Cuba have deeply
influenced his style and expression. His Brazilian flavored mix “Mezclando
Con Peligrosa” was featured on MTV Hive’s mix of the week and his re-
edit of Manu Chao’s “Je Ne T’Aime Plus” was recently highlighted on East
Village Radio. And he’s been voted “Best DJ” in the Austin Chronicle’s
Music Poll.

He has recently collaborated on mix series with culture/fashion/art web
magazine Bleach Online entitled “Domingo’s Love Affairs.”

Currently you can find him bangin’ out cumbia sounds and all things
tropical as a member of the Austin based Peligrosa collective, which he
has been a part of for 5 years.
